Service was great, attentive, professional and informative. I ordered the bolognese a $30 entree with a small portion that wasn’t particularly hot when it arrived. I actually chuckled to myself when I saw it! Ok for me but I wasn’t impressed. If you try this restaurant you’ll need an appetizer to go along with dinner this is a minimum $85 per person restaurant.
Fantastic waitstaff! Thank you so much for assisting my date tonight. I appreciate it. I loved the Greek wine, French Pinot equiv, the onion soup and moist duck! The duck was really good! The chicken pot pie was my second choice. I will return here soon.
A summer night in Boston and we decided to go The Butcher Shop in the South End. You can never go wrong with any of Barbara Lynch’s restaurants. We started with their bread with honey and butter. I can have a few plates of this with just a glass of wine! The mixed of the honey and butter is heavenly! We wanted something light for our dinner. For appetizer, we ordered the summer squash salad topped with some dried crispy and flavorful prosciutto. Next, we had the spicy tomato soup. For entree, we ordered the Agnolotti. It had cloumage, figs and lemon verbena. It tasted light, fluffy and lemony! I love this dish best. The wines, food and service were excellent as always.
Great wine selection and the hanger steak was absolutely perfect. However the staff seemed overwhelmed during our visit. I don’t think I will visit again but also didn’t have a bad time. The restaurant is cute and definitely worth a try!
We got super lucky and snuck in before the rush, getting seats at the bar on a Saturday night. Recommend calling in a reservation, or at least to check if one is needed. Ashley took good care of us, coordinating with the Chef all the way to accommodate a food restriction one of our party had at the time. She got pulled away as the place got busier, and Matt took over. Matt was every bit as courteous as Ashley, and we enjoyed his bright personality. We also want to again hit hard how we appreciate the staff being so accommodating with the meal restrictions.
Drinks for the evening were Veridian by Banded and a syrah whose name I forget (a Matt recommendation). Both were great. We enjoyed a small cheese plate as a starter (don't shy from the goat and sheep cheeses). We shared the duck breast and rabbit lasagnette. The duck was superb. Tender and flavorful without being greasy or heavy like duck can sometimes be. The lasagnette I would describe as "comfort food plus." A well-prepared lasagna-like dish with bits of tender rabbit meat as a kicker. Each ingredient did not blend, but Chef was able to keep them distinct. I thoroughly enjoyed the pops of sage and fresh-ground pepper that didn't just sink into the dishes. We're already working this spot into our regular rotation.
Great ambiance, relaxing mood. We had the rib-eye steak and pork plus we ordered a bottle of sparkling red wine. We had the steak done medium rare and it was awesome. Overall, we had a great night!
A cozy, artisanal meat focused lunch and dinner spot, with wine. I was super impressed by the spicy tomato soup and my hotdog that had rosemary within. My server was friendly, and informed. It has a rustic charm and all the tables are bar height, just to note.
Good food but wayyyyyy too expensive … this was a $300 for 2 people. This is not a top resturant where you spend those money. Outside seating… not great… tables are too low and chairs uncomfortable…. Definitely a must to improve. Food and wine wise: tasty food but expensive and wine list very short and not at the $300 level bill. Service good … but not impressed. Another resturant in Boston not to go back. And by the way …. The name “the butcher shop” you expect A LOT OF MEAT CHOICES…. With special cuts …. And this is not the place.
